Just WHAT were the leaders thinking?? Unimaginable leadership by fools. But Susan's quilt tells a lot, even if some people find it difficult to learn.

Hey, You have a good video here. The most complete woodworking projects that I have ever used was Toms Magic Wood (i found it on google). Without a doubt it contains the most incredible woodworking plans that I have ever tried.

These two presentations are well worth watching/listening to. Filled with information on the end of slavery. For all interested in U.S. history and particularly African-American history.

Over two years ago I met Susan Hudson at a museum where she had her quilts on display out in the Los Angeles area. Our spontaneous conversation was the high point of all the showings seen. As one quilter to another we developed a very strong, and continuous friendship via the internet. Most impressive about Susan is that she is very positive, as well as a creative story teller through her quilts. Her simple pictures tell much in a way causing viewers to pause, to think, to work further to make amends for vengeful actions against the vanquished. Her work teaches that which is not covered in many school house text books. In her way Susan causes us to reflect, to pursue thoughts and actions to make amends for wrongs, to learn more than just stories of what happened so long ago. Viewers are introduced to passed skills people used to answer their needs to combine beauty and necessity in highly artistic ways. Her work allows viewers of her quilts to learn a sad, and sordid story of how hatred once dominated our culture. Susan has found a way to tell her people's stories in a manner which teaches members of other cultures of a sad, and sordid experience which should never be repeated by members of any culture anywhere. Her work brings about a beauty made by her people, misunderstood by an invading people. She shows a way by which those who are presently learning to appreciate what was created in times passed, and now recreated for the appreciation of a more knowledgeable, and accepting populace. Her stories as told in her quilts will work in a subtle way to bring people together. She is a beautiful person using her quilting skills to help those living now learn about a sad history without generating more hatred. She shows how to admire, to restore, to preserve, and to appreciate what was nearly erased.
